First

It's been tricky to find time to blog in recent weeks. There's been too much scooting and sliding and swimming and berry picking going on and, if I'm honest, employment of conciliation services for the odd loud and squawky holiday 'discussion' between the smaller members of the household. I've cursed the rainy days when the three of us couldn't go outside and kick the whatsits out of the pink sparkly football. There are only so many times we can thread beads, 'do baking' or build a pretend cottage for a toy monkey.

In the last week or so there have been a few small changes round here.

We're late arrivals at the sourdough party and our first attempts have been knobbly but I think we're hooked.

We've rummaged for tights at the backs of drawers and put them on.

I've been wrapped up in a vintage crochet blanket in recent evenings. At just £18 it was wrong to leave it on the stall.

I've started making a new silvery collection.

I've noticed some liquid, yellowish sunlight.

Hmm.

I know what most of these changes mean. I know that many of them are good things. It's old news that despite the good things I'm not so excited about the two seasons to come, especially the second one.

I think it's going to be OK though. Last year there was the splash of colour project.

This year there is a New Plan.

  1. A New Plan eh? As you know, I'm a Big Fan of these two seasons which are fast approaching but am very happy to see what you have up your sleeve.

  7. And how long will we have to hold our breath for before your spill the silvery beans (or should I say beads?) about the New Plan? ;-)

I'm happy you came on by to my little corner of France. My fingers are crossed for you.

  9. GASP! Do you understand how much I adore owls? Need smelling salts, pronto...

Can't wait to learn more about the New Plan. And please send the tights weather this way, because the 100 degrees and humidity have sent me to the end of my rope.

  10. The New Plan sounds intriguing! I loved seeing your gorgeous autumn pictures, very beautiful fruits, flowers and the little silver owl...perfect! We'll still have lots of nice days during autumn and maybe winter won't be too bad this year, what with the vintage crochet blanket, splash of colour and the New Plan!?

  13. Hi Emma.. oh, I enjoyed reading your post. I'm also not a fan of Winter. I can tolerate Autumn as I like the Fall color and Halloween and Thanksgiving.. but the only thing Winter has going for it is Christmas.. and then after that? Ughhhhh! Say, I have made that blanket before, check this post on my blog...

  16. I agree it would have been wrong to leave that blanket behind, I don't think I've ever seen a pattern like that before. Looking forward to your ' new plan ' . I'd never taken part in your colour snaps before but wish I had xx

  18. Sounds intriguing this New Plan! Can't wait to see what it might be. Lovely photos you have shared today and I love that link to the sourdough blog and will be popping back there too. What are you going to do with the elderberries? I keep meaning to get out there and pick some for elderberry syrup for the winter but so far I haven't done so.

  19. Trying not to think about the looming dark days, summer if my favourite season even if we don't really have one.
The owl is perfect, so full of character and for some reason reminds me of the lovely Little Grey Rabbit books I read as a child.x

  23. Tights are a must for early mornings around these parts, as the dreaded Second Season lurks and strikes with a vengeance before you can say liquid yellow sunshine! Loving the owl,

  24. What a beautiful owl, looking forward to seeing more of your new work, it is lovely! I too aren't looking forward to the months to come, I hate the cold and the dark but at least it means we can all get cosy and snuggly under blankets- love that! Jenny x

  27. I love your crochet blanket. I've seen that pattern done in pastels and passed it by as I didn't like it, but in those colours it is beautiful!

  28. Huzzah! I finally get to see your blog again. (I think Blogger hates me. Just me.)

Ooooo! A secret plan. Sounds most intriguing Missus P.

  29. Lovely to see you here again. The way you have styled that photo of the owl against the branch with the acorn is just gorgeous. One of the Little Owls here fell down next door's chimney a few weeks ago and my other half had to go and rescue it. It apparently just sat in the hearth looking all bemused!:O))))) I got a peep at it before it was let go uninjured a few minutes later.

  30. That blanket is a find! No wonder you snapped it up ;-)

Yes there's a touch of Autumn in the air - but today is sunny - make the most of it before the first of the autumnal storms rolls in!

    I'm having a gardening day :-)

  31. I need a new plan too. Today's cheer up plan involves making a lot of jelly. My very least favourite day of the year is tomorrow :-(

Oh, and glad to see you've been lying on the floor to snap your rudbeckia. That's devotion to duty.
