Holiday snaps
First stop: Nana's house in North Yorkshire. We met up with lovely friends and we all built a sandcastle
It was Big. It had stairs and tunnels.
Then the sea came in.
Next stop: this little cottage just a stone's throw from Snape Maltings in Suffolk.
A cat from long ago had helped to make the bricks for the fireplace.
We played in Rendlesham Woods. We did not see any aliens. (Eldest's skirt by Melissa at tiny happy - perfect for playing)
I swam in the North Sea. I can confirm that it was, ahem, bracing.
Some of the local services were slightly worrying.
Aldeburgh beach, as ever, did not disappoint.
It was good to get away.
Hullo Missus. Great snaps- all very good places to visit. We are about to test the waters of Loch Fyne. The other Beans have wetsuits. I have my birthday suit- think the sea will be bracing. Will let you know. Cuppa soon? Ax
ReplyDeleteOoh, how apt. The word verification is metingle!!!
Goodness, you have been to some of the exact same places that I have in the last week - but that's not surprising when it's where I live!
ReplyDeleteWell Hello There Ms. Pebble -- nice to see a peek of you there. You lucky ducks -- playing with the Lockets -- what a fun time. Thanks for sharing your pictures -- that sand castle looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThat must be the biggest sandcastle I've ever seen! It looks as if you've had a very refreshing break and visited some lovely seaside places, just the kind of holiday I like too.

I'd admired your castle building expertise over at Lucy's! Looks like you've been having a lovely time.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing sandcastle.... and what a thoroughly enjoyable looking summer holiday you had :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos Emma, they show how much of a good time you all had!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful sandcastle too!!
I have to say you are very brave having a dip in the North Sea. :)
Great castle! Looks like you've visited some lovely places. Looks a little chilly though :(
ReplyDeleteCrikey, sandcastles have changed since I last built one!
ReplyDeleteYou've just been to my favourite area in the whole world, lucky things.
Hi Emma! So lovely to hear from you. Your Hols look fun! especially the gigantic castle and that blue peeling paint with a touch of eggy yellow showing is divine! Loving late summer, enjoy....

Lovely pics! Any finds on the beaches?
ReplyDeleteGosh those Suffolk pictures made my heart skip. We have friends near Framlingham who welcome us and the dogs most years, for a couple of weeks in one of our favourite parts of the world. And we haven't been back there since spring 2009 ... now I know why I feel as if I've been missing something lately!
ReplyDeleteWe've just bought a house in Aldeburgh so I was there last week too. Mind you, I was rushing around like a thing possessed. I'd rather have been building sand castles. Claire
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that perhaps you might take me on holiday with you next time . . .

Oooh Aldeburgh! Bliss. Though you're much braver than I am taking a dip in the North Sea! K x
ReplyDeleteBrave girl, haven't been in the North Sea deeper than my ankles for years!Looks like a lovely holiday and some wonderful photos, especially the boat and flower, beautiful.
ReplyDelete1. Fab holiday snaps.
ReplyDelete2. But you're smiling!
3. Love the tiny flags.
4. You produce unfathomably gorgeous children.
5. Love the paw print.
6. Welcome home!
Gorgeous pics !! You are a brave lady, we went in the North Sea a few weeks ago but wore our wetsuits :)
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely to see you all and the sandcastles are getting better every time! The rest of your holiday looks delightful - although I don't think you would have been able to tempt me to swim in the sea!! Lucy xx
ReplyDeleteA lovely post Emma, thank you. We are off to Aldeburgh at the end of September and you've given me a lovely taster to look forward to. :-) xx
ReplyDeleteYou swam in the North Sea? You mad thing you!
ReplyDeleteHi Silverpebble..I love your amazing sandcastle, especially the tunnels and steps! The only mole catchers we have here are the ones that deal with sun cancers..lol. It's great to see you get away for a change and enjoy the summer holidays.
ReplyDeleteLovely pics of all my favourite places! Is that a smile on your face or a grimace against the cold?!
ReplyDeleteWe recently returned from a trip to the shores of Lake Huron. The water was much warmer than that of the North Sea. I agree. Getting away is good.
ReplyDeleteGood for you. I swam in Dorset but it wasn't too bad..I think the east coast takes nerves of steel. Your little girls are so cute.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you all refreshed and smiley.
Beautiful holiday photographs! Wow, good of you to go into the sea. I haven't been brave enough yet :-)!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
