I bought these 1970s clogs from etsy in the summer. I'd checked and rechecked the continental sizes against the UK ones. All seemed well and I took the plunge. They arrived and they were even more beautiful than in their picture. The handpainting was stunning and I couldn't wait to put them on (and to possibly do a small cloggy dance). You might be able to guess what happened - they were at least a size too small. There was some clog anguish. I considered reselling them but couldn't bear to part with them.
I've just hung them up on the wall. I think they might have become a Christmas decoration. Ahem. It's December right?
Their vibrant colours reminded me - this month's Splash of Colour week will begin next Monday, the 6th December. I'll be posting colourful images to help us through the winter. Oh dear - I'm ahead of myself as have already posted my December colour post! Those clogs took me back - I had a pair of red ones like that though mine were without the painting and I loved them till I fell off them one day and grazed my leg and knee badly on the gravelled driveway. The thick wooden soles are not always easy to handle!! I was much much younger then too so it wasn't just me being an old fogey. Much better as a decoration I'd say!

ReplyDeleteI'll be honest though, I don't want a splash of colour today, I want a whoosh of white to go sledging on. By next week I may feel differently :-)

Yes, I was a bit premature too - I must have really NEEDED that injection of colour! But no matter as I can just put more up next week as well.
ReplyDeleteI love those clogs - really love them. And if they have been promoted to Christmas decorations, then at least their lovely painted decorations will stay looking beautiful, and you won't have the trauma of getting them scratched!
Gorgeous clogs. I have a wee soft spot for clogs, I currently own 6 pairs and one odd one. It's a shame that they don't fit you but I bet they look great hung up.

Lovely clogs. I have a cheap wooden soled pair I wear in the garden, nothing as pretty as yours, but surprisingly really comfy!

ReplyDeleteIn 1976 I had a pair of these clogs (without the painting. Beautiful red cloppies (there was no clippy sound, just clopping). I couldn't walk in them aged six but oh, how I loved them.

Love them! I think they're a great Christmas decoration but what a shame they don't fit.
ReplyDeleteThey're very gorgeous clogs and perfect for a christmassy decoration if they're not able to decorate your feet. Afterall they'll last longer this way and you'll get to enjoy them for many years to come without having to trouble yourself with something nasty stuck on the bottom of them!

Love those clogs. I'm a clog wearer, but just normal ones from dansko. I just have solid colors, red being the boldest and a spring green being the brightest.....but love your handpainted clogs. What a beautiful way to decorate, I wouldn't have been able to part with them either! Have a wonderful weekend
