One weekend, two celebrations



In 1201 King John granted a charter for a fair in our village. During the last week of April every year the fairground rides arrive on the village green ready for May Day. This year the helter skelter was built right outside our sitting room window. Excitement was at fever pitch.



Combine that with a Royal wedding garden party with free rides on Friday afternoon and it was almost too much.



We even had a Royal line up.

    What on earth were you scarfing? I can see your house!

    I thought of you at the fair this weekend as we were freezing our backsides off on the beach - was it windy here too? I seem to remember you having to hold down your gazebo last year ...

    Wasn't that just a perfect weekend? BigBean biked up to Reach the other day and was very excited about fair preparations.
    Something about bunting and eating outside which makes such an occasion. And of course being graced by HRH makes it all the more so... Ax

    I forgot all about your big Fair, we were walking in Wales.

    Looks like Reach had a grand time - you wouldn't know a Royal Wedding had happened over in our village. I was even telephoned at 10.45am to discuss the design of the fete poster.

    What fun and it couldn't get any more exciting than having a helter skelter right outside your sitting room window. Lovely too that something that was started over 800 years ago is still taking place. With such a busy weekend for the Royals it was great that they could turn up at your fair. :)

    Love the last photo! There's one of me like that at our wedding, which I find really annoying...

    This is just a great event. We ahve to wait until the end of August/beginning of September for our town fair, but you've whetted my appetite!

    There is a small child over here who is now LIVID that those rides and attractions were not parked outside HIS house. This might just permanently mar his friendship with the young lady in the first photo. And I had such hopes of being a co-mother-in-law with you...

    Prince William looks cute in a necklace..those royals are getting around everywhere these days! It's amazing to see a whole village/town sitting down to afternoon tea like that..great photos..I spied out you and your house..too funny, lol.
