Seedhead heroes

    I love seeing goldfinches - they're rarer than they used to be around here, due to pesticide usage in the fields. It's always a treat to come on a row of thistles sporting a charm of goldfinches.

    What a beautiful drawing Emma! And your post at Garlic and Sapphire is so pretty. I don't always leave my seedheads over the winter -- they trap so many leaves that I want to get cleaned up so I usually remove them in late fall.

    I clicked on the link and enjoyed reading your post, funnnily enough I have just completed a Christmas design featuring a goldfinch sitting on a teasle. It must be something in the ether!

    I love goldfinches and the way they come as groups. A couple of years ago we had one that used to come on its own and I used to wonder why and worry about it.
