Last week I Spring cleaned the studio.
I changed my postcard/inspiration wall to match the new season. I left the painted vintage seedtrays where they were. They're ready for Open Studios in July and with the addition of a few tacks are great for displaying my jewellery.
The collection of postcards is a little more colourful than last summer, which I think stems from the sudden blast of Spring colour in the garden and from the enamelled colour I've been adding to my silver recently (new items will be in my etsy shop soon).
I adore the patchwork curtains Thriftyhousehold made for me.
The piece of bright vintage embroidered trim I found on Etsy (draped amongst the seedtrays and postcards in the second image) is a favourite recent find. £2 bought me 3 metres of Spring happiness.
My studio had a very exciting visitor on Friday. She and I sat up there and chatted and drank tea and ate apple cake.
I'll be able to reveal more about this in June.
Meanwhile littlest has recovered from the horrid 'flu she had last week and is enjoying being up in the studio with me today.
Edited to add: I will be holding a silver clay workshop here at the cottage on Saturday 5th May. More details here.
How lovely is your studio, seems very calming. What a tease, June is forever away!
ReplyDeleteGood news that your little one has recovered from the flu, been some horrid bugs around lately.
Your studio looks absolutely delightful Emma - as does Little Miss Pebble although I'm sorry to hear she has been poorly. I'm intrigued to hear about your mystery visitor and look forward to hearing more in June! Lucy xxx
ReplyDeleteYour studio always looks so inviting Emma!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Please join my craft room showcase link party modelmakeandmend.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely space to occupy, very restful. Your little one is doing what I love best, sitting on the door step. My daughter is partial to it too.

Your studio is inspirational not only for its beauty but for the fact you manage to stop it being used as a junk storage place. (I just know my husband would fill it as he has already done this in the house).
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea to use painted seed trays to hang on the wall too.
Oh it looks wonderful! I just want to move in. And am very curious about the special visitor... K x
ReplyDeleteSuch an inspiring work space :D
ReplyDeleteI think my jaw just hit the floor - having seen it by torchlight last week I am stunned by the daylight reveal!
ReplyDelete*SO* lovely to see you all yesterday, but how hard do you think I have cursed the weather change today? It's just taking the mickey now.
I have ordered velcro (should have it by lunchtime tomorrow) so could nip up for an installation this week or early next ...
It's great to see Spring arriving - I'm almost inspired to start Spring cleaning too!
ReplyDeleteI need your studio........fact. If not the studio, could I keep the little cutie pie in her floral top instead please

That is the cutest studio! I have a neat little shed out back of our farmhouse, but currently it's full of boxes. I need to clean it out and decorate it like a garden shed. Thanks for the inspiration. I wish I was close enough to take the silver clay class! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteA lovely bright studio to work in!
ReplyDeleteYou studio is a lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love your new enamelled designs and the postcard display is wonderful. Glad your little one is recovering and enjoying the sunshine with you.
I am sure you could never fail to be inspired by having a studio like yours. I try to do the same in my little back room but I think that having a space away from the house is what really makes it. I can at least open the window onto trees and birds (and a nice sunny breeze when the day allows!).
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tour!

Dear Emma, I just found your blog today and was so impressed, not just with this post but with all your past posts (well, I didn’t look at all of them, but the ones I did look at) great job. Looking forward to having more time to come back and really dig in, your little cottage studio is adorable. I wish I could join you for apple cake and tea. It looks like the perfect place to relax and let your creative juices start to flow. Thanks for sharing. Your new fan and fellow blogger, Connie
ReplyDeleteplease come visit, my welcome mat is always out.
Your studio looks gorgeous Emma. Love the little splash of colour. Glad the day with your visitor went well... looking forward to June!
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS. Right, I'm off to build a shed in the garden and make it beautiful and call it my studio. I love the colours you've used, it's dreamy. I hope it is an inspiring and productive place for you. Gillian x
ReplyDeleteHow pretty and welcoming the studio looks. And June just got a whole lot more exciting!
ReplyDeleteNow THAT'S a studio! What a wonderful place to work. I hope you don't mind a personal question (!) is your studio warm even in the winter? If you have a little woodburner in the corner I may just die with envy...
ReplyDeleteI'm betting there's still a little nip in the air (at least around the edges?) but I'd be doing the same. Throwing open that beautiful studio and inviting that fresh season in!
ReplyDelete(Soon we'll be battening down the hatches)...
How beautiful! What a great space to work and hang out in. Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteI love your studio Emma. very bright and pretty. Think I may have to pinch the idea for the patchwork curtains as I love the fact the patches are big and not fussily small x
ReplyDeleteSIGH. I am going to climb in and live there forever. Just you wait and see.
ReplyDeleteAnd what visitor could be more wonderful than the one pictured (so sorry she has been under the weather)?
Thank you Emma for your lovely comment at mine today:-)
ReplyDeleteYour studio looks wonderful and inviting. I love your postcard collection and those very pretty curtains! I could spend all day daydreaming in such a place.
I'm now very Intrigued about your visitor .... AND I really must pop over to your Open Studio in July this year.

ReplyDeleteLove those curtains, had been planning something similar for my new kitchen, will definitely be doing it now! What a gorgeous 'nest' you have.

Why are there no slugs? Even my kitchen has slugs in. That's in a garden, for heaven's sake.
ReplyDeleteThe studio looks amazing! I wish I had one... Although I am enjoying watching the world go by in the sunshine at the moment - seems to make everything look that little bit better!
ReplyDeleteHello to you from New York, Emma.
ReplyDeleteIt was such a delight to meet you...still amazes me to actually get to talk with folks whose blogs and creativity I love so much!
It's tough now to return to my NYC routines while my mind still glories in recent travel memories.
Happy Easter to you and your family. xo
Saw a link to your blog from Tales from a Cottage Garden blog, and am amazed to see your studio which is soooo like my little summerhouse - I will send you a photo of that by email! Love the interior of your studio - I think it's slightly larger than mine, as mine is only 8ft by 6ft (maximum space we had for it) and it's lovely to see how you have decorated yours! Love those patchwork curtains. I don't have any curtains in mine, maybe something I should consider, but in such a small space I think it would be overwhelming. And, although we live by the sea, I've not decorated in beach-hut style, more country garden style.

What a pretty place to work in, it looks so peaceful!
ReplyDeleteOh your studio looks lovely - I am lucky to have half the spare room as mine but I do dream of a separate little room outdoors. Lovely. Beth (the linen cat)x
